School Hours

All students are expected to be at school ready for learning by 8:50am.


Drop Off and Collection Times

Drop off after 8:00am. Collect at 3:00pm.


Stationery & School Accounts

Each family has a stationery account set up by the school. This is for incidental stationery items, donations and termly school charges.

Please contact the school office before 8:50am


Newsletters & Notices

School Newsletters are emailed to parents on a Wednesday and a link is also added to our school Facebook Page. We use Signmee to distribute other school notices, trip and camp information.


Emergency Kits

Each student requires an emergency kit which is kept at school. The kits are returned at the end of each school year so that food items can be replaced before they expire.


School Bus Information

Dave Finlayson is in charge of the bus runs & bus monitors. Please contact him if you would like your child to catch the school bus - principal@opaki.school.nz

Library

Our school library is situated beside the sandpit between Mahuri and Kahure Syndicates. It is the hub of the school and students are actively encouraged to use this space as often as possible.


Device Allocation, Internet & On-line Agreement

Opaki School is well resourced for digital technologies. We have the following systems and device allocation in place.


Friday Lunch Orders

Friday lunch orders can be completed on signmee. Order forms are also available at the school office.


Tuckabox Lunch Orders

Parents can order lunches for their children Tuesday-Thursday through the 'Tuckabox' company.


Assembly

Whole school assemblies take place on a Friday between 10:00 and 10:30. The assemblies are student lead with each class taking turns to run the weekly assembly.


Wheels Day

Friday is school wheels day.


Lost Property

Any and all lost property is placed in a shopping trolley outside the hall.


EOTC, School Camps & Trips

Opaki School is very passionate about Education Outside the Classroom. EOTC includes working outside of the normal classroom environment and may include classroom visits, day trips and overnight camps.


House Groups

All students are cross-grouped with siblings into 6 house groups.


Jump Jam

Jump Jam takes place every Tuesday and Thursday morning at 8:50. It is led by a group of Year 8 students.


School Sun Hats

Students are required to wear their school sun hat during Terms 1 and 4 of the school year.


Pet Day

Pet Day is held in Term 4 - usually in the week following Labour Weekend. Pet Day is an integral part of our school culture. The ‘day’ is split into three sections.


Swimming & Swimming Pool Keys

We are fortunate enough to have use of the Opaki Community Pool during the summer.


Principal's Morning Tea

4 students per syndicate are selected each term for the way they demonstrate effective skills within a school value or key competency.


Parent Morning Tea's

We host a new parent morning tea each term as a way of new families meeting the staff and becoming familiar with other new families. There is also a parent helpers morning tea held at the end of each year to thank those who help out around the school.


School Photo Books

At the end of each year a photo book is compiled using a selection of photos from throughout the year.


Friends of Opaki School

The Friends Committee is made up of a group of parents who organise and run fundraising initiatives throughout the year.
